The Procedure

Eyelash extensions enhance the look of lashes. The type of eyelash can either be mink, which feels soft and natural, or synthetic, that are harder and can create more structure. The look of lashes is chosen by the patient and the length can be adjusted. The eyelash extension is dipped into the semi-permenant glue, that is safe for the eye, and is placed on the bottom side of one individual lash. Extensions are placed on lashes in the catagen phase of hair growth which includes around 80% of eyelashes. As eyelashes naturally fall out, they release the extension with them.

On average, this procedure takes 1.5 to 3 hours and many patients take a nap or listen to a book on tape during this time. The lashes need to stay dry for 24 hours for the glue to properly dry. To maintain the fullness of lashes, it is recommended that patients come into receive a fill-in every 2 weeks. IV therapy can also be performed during this treatment.
