Focus Laser by Picosure

MMelasma or "Mask of Pregnancy"

rMelasma is a common acquired disorder of skin hyperpigmentation that characteristically presents with symmetric brown macules, or flat lesions, and patches on the cheeks, forehead, nose and chin.  This is mostly found on patients like ours above, female in child bearing years.

The way that Melasma normally appears is a combination of many factors such as sun exposure, hormonal influences, thyroid disease and family history.  It can be so distrubing for many people and usually requires a multi-factorial approach to solving the problem.   Topical agents such as hydroquinone, sunscreen, and many others are usually recommended.  Chemical peels and lasers treatment are recommended as well.  Not all lasers and chemicals are good for these types of patients and many times can and will make the problem worse.  See your dermatologist for more information.

At Physicians' Aesthetics we are proud to introduce the Focus laser by Cynosure.  It uses a pulse that has little to no inflammation to the skin while attacking the pigment in question.  As you can see from our patient above a remarkable improvement after this one treatment.  Normally we recommend a series of 3 to 4.  Cost ranges from $750 and up for the laser.
